Girl names

Tonight while at dinner we were thinking of girl names. Logan named a few, I shared some I liked , and Reagan was there so he was throwing out some of his favorites. I mentioned how I asked James what we should name the baby girl the day before and shared our conversation, James said, "what's the girl from Ninja Turtles?" I said "April" and he replied, "oh ya April O'niel, we should name our baby girl April O'niel!" I said "Well that's a good one but maybe we will keep looking". First off James is obsessed with Ninja Turtles again and loves everything about them, and second I love how he always refers to the baby as our baby girl! 😍 He is so sweet and so excited to meet little miss! So at dinner I asked him again what should we name the baby and his answer.... Tigress. 😂 Well James we might not use that name either but thanks for sharing the excitement of naming her.

Be kind, rewind

Since I have two very active boys who love to play we are trying to be kind, so it is often repeated in our house! And of course Logan had to always repeat Be Kind, Rewind. So naturally I have caught James saying be kind, rewind. It is so sweet to hear him remind himself or Boston to be kind and rewind. Just last night Logan tried to explain what rewind means and unfortunately a four year old is just not interested in what a vhs tape is or that it you had to rewind it before returning it to a store. I kindly reminded Logan that James doesn't even know what a dvd is, how would he know what a vhs tape was. He laughed and agreed. I sure do love my sweet James he is such a fun kiddo and loves to make us laugh, we are all so lucky to have him.

Sidekick

Today we watched the Incredibles and surprisingly James picked it out, it's not one of his favorite movies. He sat and watched the whole movie and when the end credits rolled he turned to me and said:

J: mom what's a sidekick?
M: it's a person who helps the superhero
J: oh okay
M: like Robin helps Batman
J: is it like this (as he kicks to the side)
M: well that is a side kick, it's not a sidekick
J: okay thanks mom

He then walked away talking about superheroes, it's so fun to watch him learn about new things.

it's raining

Today it poured! There was thunder and lightening, it was wonderful. It reminded me of Arizona monsoons. It also happened to be the day that I needed to get out and run to the grocery store for some staple ingredients. And just my luck we were ready to hop in the car right as the storm decided to reach our part of town. We walked out to a downpour, we all waited outside then returned inside to wait it out. Luckily it slowed down and were able to hop in the car and run to the store, we picked up all we needed without getting too wet. On the way home while it was drizzling James noticed the clouds and how dark they were and at the stop light he said, "Mom, it's raining, rain comes from the clouds, when there is a lot of rain in the clouds it rains." I don't know where he learned it from, but I was shocked. He is such a smart little guy! He really pays attention and understands what is going on around him. Can't believe he will be four in may! He needs to stay little a little longer, I can't handle how fast he is growing!

big bad wolf

James love reading books then acting out the story line. His favorite is the three little pigs. He has memorized most of the story but his favorite part is when the big bad wolf blows the house down. We have a teepee that he uses as the house and he will ask me to be the pig and he will stand outside the teepee and act out the roles
J: little pig, little pig let me in
M: not by the hair of my chiny chin chin
J: then I'll huff and puff and blow your house down
M: ohh no my house fell down.
He will shake the teepee and will get upset if I don't say the right lines. It really is so sweet how much he loves to pretend. I remember once a few months ago, when he first started pretending he leould always take off all his clothes to be the wolf, since wolves don't wear clothes of course. Thankfully he has stopped and will keep his clothes in when we play. :)

learning to fly

My Lately I have been watching my little guys, they are adorable and I am so glad that they don't mind mom staring at them. James wasn't being very nice to Boston and had pushed him. I asked James why he would do that and reminded him how pushing is not very nice. He replied with "but mom, Boston was trying to fly so I pushed him." Where does this come from? I had to hold in the laughter I just reminded him that pushing is not nice, and he shouldn't try to help people fly, especially since Boston probably didn't ask to fly. Later they were both picking on each other and I told James that if he were going to choose to be mean to Boston than he would need to take a break in his room. He wasn't to thrilled, (in our house taking a break is a hidden word for time out since he doesn't like time out we use take a break. It works and he asks to take a break when he is to overwhelmed.) Anyways he sat and thought and then stood up walked to Boston and said "Boston I am sorry for being mean will you forgive me?" YES!!! He finally got it! I have been working on forgiveness with James for a couple of months and normally he can apologize on his own, but asking for forgiveness needs a little reminder. And he did it all on his own. He followed Boston around for a bit asking over and over for his forgiveness and Boston smiled and gave him a hug. These two love each other! They may fight and not agree but they love each other more than anything! I love watching their love for one another grow.

Catching Sharks!

While I was playing with B in James's room, I heard a little voice coming from the living room. Worried that there was a mischieveius act going on. I picked B up and walked in to see what was going on. I saw that James had pushed two stools together and was sitting atop one of them fishing with a light saber. I asked him what he was doing and he looked over and casually said "Fishing!" I asked if B and I could join and he replied back "of course". So B and I sat down with a sword in hand fishing. Then all of a sudden James started reeling in and when I asked, "did you catch something?" His reply "a fish". He reeled it in and he handed it to me so I could eat it. Then I caught something and reeled it in to find out it was a Shark! I showed James the invisible shark then squealed and told him we had to throw it back because it might eat us. He giggled and agreed! For the next few minutes we sat and pretended to catch fish, crabs, octopus and sharks,! All the sharks were thrown back, of course after they "scared" us.
I love that James has such a wonderful imagination! He has never been fishing or even been with anyone while they fished, so I don't know where he learned how to pretend fish and how to reel in a big one, but it was the cutest thing to see my little guys mind explore the world of imagination! It really was a memorable moment, that I hope not to forget.
